How to make Kale taste better

I often hear that people think that kale sucks, but I just don’t think those people ate it cooked right...Have you ever heard of massaging kale? While its not the only way to make kale taste better, it definitely helps.

This article and video will show you how I do that and other ways that I make kale taste good!

First of all... you do not have to eat raw kale.

Cook that bish!

By all means, if you want to eat it raw, these techniques will help! But for me, no matter how much it is massaged and flavored, it almost always is a little tough and bitter.

So I rarely eat it raw and I'm very okay with that. There are plenty of other raw greens that I love (like spinach, arugula, spring mix, romaine, etc.)

With that being said, let's get into how to prepare kale before cooking it

First, start by grabbing the stem in one hand. Use your other hand to slide across and pull the leaves away from the stem.

You can use this technique on basically any type of kale. But if it's not easy for you, you can just use your thumbs to rip the leaf part off of the stem. (see video)

You also could just leave the the stem attached and rip it up with the leaves

…whatever you prefer.

If you look up how to make kale taste better on google, it will tell you to massage it.

What does it mean to massage kale?

Basically, that just means using your hands to break some of the toughness of the leaves which makes it taste better. And you’ll probably start to smell it little more than you did before.

After massaging, add whatever herbs and spices. In the video, I just use garlic and a dash of olive oil or vegetable broth to make it stick. You really don’t need much.

Next, use two spoons or spatulas to toss and mix everything all together.

This is like massaging it too for a second time. So even if you don’t do it that first time, this will work.

After it looks mixed and ready to go

Lay the kale out on some parchment paper OR over top of veggies that are already cooking in the oven.

Roast it for about 5-10 minutes on 375-400 degrees Fahrenheit.

When its finished

Sprinkle a little salt on top :)

Crispy and Flavorful Kale that doesn’t suck!
