Looking for the best plant based/ vegan restaurants in Puerto Rico?
Try this one out!
Aliado is one of the best vegan restaurants we've ever been to!
Their menu is 100% plant based/vegan and completely plant forward!
In other words, this place is cooking and creating with whole plant foods, not just vegan alternative products.
Location
Aliado is located in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico
The address is 68 Calle de San Francisco.
So if you're in or near San Juan and looking for a great vegan restaurant, I highly recommend checking Aliado out!
What I ordered
This fully plant forward vegan menu consists of small savory dishes
...so I suggest ordering maybe 3-6 dishes to share between 2 people depending on how hungry you are.
We got & absolutely loved the following:
Arancini--- risotto croquettes on a bed of tomato sauce, pesto & truffle pepita parmesan
Brie sandwich--- (my favorite) Toasted sourdough with onion-fig marmalade and their house brie cheese
Papaya Nigiri--- Papaya jerky, sushi rice, nori, sweet chili cream, citrus soy sauce, verdolaga de mar & kale salad
Cacio e pepe ravioli-- fresh hand made pasta filled with kale & mozzarella, cream & fresh cracked black pepper with truffle parmesan
and for dessert we got the Pecan Fig Pie on an almond gluten free crust served with Praline ice cream! Seriously deliiiiiicious!
We ate outside on the terrace but here's what it looks like inside!
The food was flavorful, the service was friendly and attentive, & the atmosphere of Aliado was absolutely excellent!
I'm very much looking forward to the next time I can eat there.
